Commonwealth Games 2018 Opening Ceremony Live Updates: The 21st edition of Commonwealth Games is all set to begin in Gold Coast. Over 4,500 athletes from 71 nations will be competing for 275 gold medals at the 72nd edition of Commonwealth Games. First time in history a multi-sports event will have the same number of men’s and women’s medal events. The 12 day long sporting event in Australia also includes para-athletes in the same schedule. A 227-member strong contingent will be competing for India at the games and ace badminton plater PV Sindhu was the flag-bearer for India at the opening ceremony. The entire 227-member contingent of India will not be present at the opening ceremony, however, as some athletes have their events scheduled towards the end of the Games. At the opening ceremony, all the athletes will take the oath for participating in the Games in the right spirit and on behalf of all the athletes, athlete’s oath will be taken by Karen Murphy, a Lawn Bowls player from Australia.
