Personnel of Karambakudi police station were shocked when a 30-year-old man walked in with the ‘severed head’ of his mother after allegedly killing her on Sunday, police said.

The incident has been reported from Pudukottai district of Tamil Nadu. The accused has been identified as Anand.

Police said that Anand often quarreled with his mother, a widow, over a property dispute.

After an argument over the same issue, he allegedly beheaded his mother with a sharp weapon. He carried the ‘severed head’ all the way to the Karambakudi police station and surrendered.

Police said that Rani was acquitted in a case relating to the murder of her husband 10 years ago. Anand was arrested after his surrender and further investigations are underway.
