Don’t miss the opportunity! Mughal Gardens open for public viewing till March 6th

Date:

Spread over a vast expanse of 15 acres, Mughal Gardens has often been portrayed, and deservedly so, as the soul of the Presidential Palace. The Mughal Gardens draw its inspiration from the Mughal Gardens of Jammu and Kashmir, the gardens around the Taj Mahal and even miniature paintings of India and Persia.

Apart from roses, tulips, Asiatic lilies, daffodils, hyacinth and other seasonal flowers beautify the gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan. There are more than seventy varieties of seasonal flowers including exotic bulbous and winter flowering plants. The garden also grows 60 of the 101 known types of bougainvilleas. Edging and flowering of flower beds is done with alyssum, daisy, pansy etc.

The Gardens has almost 50 varieties of trees, shrubs and vines including Moulsiri tree, Golden Rain tree, flower bearing Torch Tree and many more. At present over three hundred permanent and casual employees are deployed for the development and maintenance of the gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan will remain open for the general public till March 6, 2018 (except on March 2, 2018 on account of Holi) between 0930 hrs to 1600 hrs.  The Gardens will be closed to public visitors earlier than previously indicated due to preparation for the forthcoming International Solar Alliance Summit to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 10-11, 2018.

One will witness around 10,000 Tulip bulbs in eight varieties of different colours — all imported from the Netherlands — will be the major attraction of the garden this year.

Entry and exit for the general public will be from Gate No. 35 of the President’s Estate, close to where North Avenue meets Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Mughal Gardens will be open on March 7, 2018 exclusively for special category visitors – farmers, differently abled persons, defence/paramilitary forces and Delhi Police personnel -from 0930 hrs. to 1600 hrs. Entry and exit will also be through Gate No. 35.

The Tactile Garden will be open exclusively for visually impaired people on March 7, 2018 from 1100 hrs. to 1600 hrs.  Entry and exit will be from Gate No. 12, situated on Church Road (next to the North Avenue).
