South African skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bat first in the first match of the 6-match ODI series at Durban.
This is for the 7th time that a team winning toss has opted to bat first at the venue.
South Africa, who are on a 17-game unbeaten run in the ODIs at home, are without their talismanic batsman AB de Villiers, who is ruled out for the first three games due to injury. Aiden Markram will be playing in the XI.
