Father or devil? Man brutally thrashes his 10-year old son for lying

Date:

A heartless man seemed in full mood to teach his 10-year-old son a lesson for life. He appeared no less than a demon in a video that has surfaced on the social media. Had it not been for a technical glitches in the phone from which the video was recorded as a father ‘punished’  his son for lying, the insane man would have got away with plenty of such crimes.

The Karnataka police booked a criminal case and arrested the father, Mahendra Kumar, 37, a resident of Global village near Kengeri in west Bengaluru.

In the video, the accused – a plumber by profession – was seen beating up his son first with a mobile charger wire, then a leather belt and finally tossing him onto the bed multiple times. The victim, who is a class III student with a private school, is the lone child of his parents, police said.

Police booked Mahendra under the Justice to Juvenile Act and the Indian Penal Code sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (act with criminal intimidation). After arresting the accused on Saturday afternoon, police produced him before Juvenile Justice Court where he was granted bail.

Investigations revealed the mother of the child, a
homemaker, captured the video of the beating, which took place on November 17 last year.

“On November 17, Mahendra was upset as his wife had complained saying their son was developing the habit of lying. The boy was in the bedroom when Mahendra went inside and asked his son why he was lying. In reply, the 10-year-old said he never lied. This irked Mahendra who lost his cool. First, he beat up the boy using a mobile phone charger. Then he used a
leather belt. But what he did in the last act was horrific. Mahendra threw his son onto the bed several times,” police said.

However, the news got leaked only on January 25 when Mahendra’s mobile phone developed technical snags. “Mahendra gave the mobile phone to a nearby repair shop and the shop owner, who stumbled upon the video, leaked it on the social media,” police added.
