Aiden Markram scored a half century as South Africa went for lunch after posting 78/0 on the first day of the second Test. Dean Elgar struggled a bit but is holding firm at 26 from 73 balls.
It was quite unexpected that Ravichandran Ashwin came to bowl but he was spot on from the very first ball. His first ball turned and bounced and caught Markram by surprise. He conceded just 2 runs from his 4 overs but did not get any support from the other end as any pressure that he built was eased off from the other end.
Ishant Sharma and Hardik Pandya did well after Shami and Jasprit Bumrah failed to leave any impression. The duo of Sharma and Pandya conceded just 6 runs in 8 overs during a spell but that didn’t yield any result and ultimately they had to change their plans in search of wickets.
Earlier, India made few surprising changes by replacing Wriddhiman Saha with Parthiv Patel. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan were also dropped.
