The Russian government on Friday ordered the United States of America to cut down on a hundred diplomatic staff present in Russia. The move is seen as a retaliation for fresh US sanctions being passed against Russia.
The order also included the seizure of two US diplomatic properties, which include a guest house and a warehouse. The Russian Foreign Ministry has stated that the US had until September 1 to reduce its diplomatic staff to 455 people. The number reflects the number of Russian diplomats left in the US after the US government expelled 35 diplomats in December.
US-Russia relations have deteriorated after US officials accused the Russian government of meddling in the US Presidential elections that elected US President Donald Trump. The relations are the lowest they have been in the post-Cold War period.
