US worried about border standoff, urges India, China to work together for peace

As the border standoff between India and China in Doklam enters its second month, the US State Department has said that it is “concerned” about the standoff. The State Department added that it believes that dialogue between the two countries should be initiated to resolve the standoff.

The US State Department’s statement comes after China briefed envoys that its troops were ready and waiting at the border, indicating a move towards preparation for military conflict. There is concern that the border standoff could move towards an armed conflict with both sides reluctant to concede to the other side.
