A 74-year-old woman was allegedly hoaxed into parting with her gold bangles in DLF Phase-2 by two persons posing as police. The police said that they suspect the role of a group of people, Irani gang. The gang members pose as police target elderly people between 4pm and 5pm when there are few people on the roads, the police said. This is the second incident happened in a week.

Shashi Mehra reported that as she was walking on the street when two men spotted her around 4 PM on Friday, identified themselves as police and also showed her their respective ID cards. She alleged that the two forced her to remove her bangles, wrapped them in a paper and asked her to put it in her bag. She said that when she checked the bangles, they turned out to be fake. Mehra said that the street was also deserted at the time of the incident.
On her complaint, the DLF Phase-2 police filed an FIR under sections 379 and 420 of the IPC.

On Saturday, Uma Kedia of Sushant Lok had reported a similar incident to the police. She was allegedly duped by two persons while she was going to Sushant Lok Vyapar Kendra market on Friday evening. Deepak Saharan, the deputy commissioner of police (east), said that a team of police and crime branch has been formed to trace the gang. He said that patrolling has also been increased in the area.
