Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s father Krishnaraj Rai died on Saturday after a prolonged illness at a suburban hospital in Mumbai.
According to the report, Krishnaraj Rai was hospitalised a month ago and was later shifted to the Intensive Care Unit or the ICU. Reports say, that he was battling cancer. Aishwarya’s father Krishnaraj Rai passed away at the Lilavati Hospital in suburban Bandra.
The funeral took place around 8.30 PM at Vile Parle Seva Sansthan Shamshan Bhoomi. Aishwarya’s father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan also offered prayers. Celebrities, including, Shah Rukh Khan, Kunal Kapoor and filmmakers Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ashutosh Gowariker, also arrived to pay their last respects.
Krishnaraj Rai is survived by wife Vrinda and son Aditya apart from Aishwarya.
Aishwarya Rai, star of films like Taal, Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Guru and Jazbaa, married actor Abhishek Bachchan in 2007. Aishwarya and Abhishek have a five-year-old daughter named Aaradhya.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in Karan Johar’s October release Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
