Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the house with the budget on February 1, 2017. There were some new insights to the proposed budget while there were other expected ones. The key takeaways from the budget was on the government’s policy of taxation, suggesting that those that have an annual income of under 5 lac per annum should pay an income tax of only 5%.

In an exclusive panel discussion with Editor in Chief Saurabh Shukla, the budget was given an overall positive rating by entrepreneurs.

While Jaitley moved away from the colonial era tradition of presenting the budget on the last day of February and presented it on February 1. This move was done with an aim towards faster implementation of schemes. Meanwhile, ahead of the budget, from businessmen to salaried people, from students to housewives, everyone had showcased their varying categories of demands. Was Jaitley able to live up to it?
