‘Don’t want to split Samajwadi Party,’ says Mulayam Singh Yadav

Date:

Following a huge family feud in the Yadav family, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday expressed that he did not want his party to split and also ensured to “try and save the cycle” in an emotional speech that had people guessing what the Samajwadi Party patriarch’s next move will be.

Many gathered at the party’s Lucknow office said they still hope it means a truce between Mulayam Singh and his son and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav just ahead of crucial elections in Uttar Pradesh.

In signs of reconciliation, Akhilesh on Tuesday walked down to his father’s bungalow next door – the houses are interconnected – for the crucial meeting, the outcome of which will definitely have a bearing on SP’s electoral prospects in the poll-bound state.

Party insiders said Akhilesh’s warring uncle Shivpal Yadav and Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh, often described as an outsider in the Yadav clan, were not present at today’s father-son meeting.
