UP girl Nishtha Sharma wins “The Voice India Kids”

Nishtha Sharma from Uttar Pradesh was declared as a winner of the first season of singing reality show “The Voice India Kids“.

The Grand Finale saw the “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma cheering the contestants.

With Shaan, Shekhar Ravjiani and Neeti Mohan as coaches, the singing reality show had a unique format of blind auditions and battle rounds.

It was Nishtha, who hails from Sultanpur emerged as winner from Team Neeti. Nishtha received Rs 25,00,000 cheque from & TV along with a recording contract from Universal Music.

“I feel on the top of the world. I would sincerely like to thank my coach Neeti ma’am for mentoring me and guiding me towards victory. Also, my parents who stood by me and encouraged my passion for singing,” Nishtha said in a statement here.

The journey of the show which started with 94 contestants from across India, saw 18 contestants in the final phase, who were then eliminated every week through audience voting.

Among the six finalists, three contestants from Team Neeti (Kavya Limaye, Vishwaprasad and Nishtha Sharma), two contestants from Team Shaan (Pooja Insa and Priyanshi Sharma) and one contestant from Team Shekhar (Shreya Basu) contested for the most coveted title.

“‘The Voice India Kids’ is a great platform for singers like me to realize our potential and get an opportunity to be mentored by stalwarts from the industry,” Nishtha added.

Nishtha belongs to a musically inclined family. Her father and mother both are music teachers and run a music institute while her elder brother is pursuing BA in music.

“I am so proud that Nishtha won the first edition of ‘The Voice India Kids’. I always used to call her Sargam Queen. I am humbled by the love and support of the audience, who have bestowed this title upon Nishtha,” Neeti said.

“All the kids who participated in the show have been exceptional with a willingness to learn,” she added.

The runners up Pooja Insa and Kavya Limaye received Rs 10,00,000 each. All the three participants were also awarded gift hampers.
