The 13th edition of the Auto Expo is here and this year the Mega Motor Show is back with a bang. With the launch of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Tucson SUV, Carlino sub-compact SUV, Chevrolet Beat Essentia and Honda Motors’ scooter-bike crossover, NAVI, the show this year definitely promises to be bigger and better. Having been conceptualized in 1985, and with its first show in 1986, the Auto Expo is in its 13th edition in 2016, and is being held at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida for the second time. Brands from over 20 countries are showcasing various cars, bikes and automobile trends at this mega event.

The Auto Expo is jointly organised by the Automotive Components Manufacturing Association (ACMA), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam) and is accredited by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA).
The organisers are expecting a footfall of over 6 lakh visitors this year. Notable absentees from this year’s event are Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield and Harley Davidson .
Japanese auto major Yamaha Motors today unveiled a new scooter, Cygnus Ray-ZR, for the Indian market at the 13th edition of the Auto Expo here.
The Cygnus Ray-ZR is developed around a concept of ‘a next generation real man’s scooter’.
The scooter with a fresh look is powered by an air-cooled 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-Value 113cc blue core engine with a continuously variable transmission unit.
The main features of the scooter include an engine with high combustion efficiency. Besides, the disk brake version features cast aluminium wheels. It will also have an another variant with drum brakes.
Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday unveiled its much-awaited compact SUV Vitara Brezza at the Auto Expo 2016.
The Vitara Brezza marks the country’s largest carmaker’s entry into the highly-competitive sub-compact SUV segment, which fields cars like Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300.
The company is targeting a volume of two million units by 2020.
Chevrolet has showcased its ‘Spin’ MPV at the ongoing Auto Expo 2016. Spin will compete with Honda Mobilio and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in the MPV segment. Chevrolet’s existing MPV, ‘Enjoy’ has been doing well, majorly in the taxi sector while ‘Spin’ is expected to be branded as a premium MPV. Chevrolet plans to launch the same in the Indian market by 2017.
Chevrolet also launched Corvette in the SUV segment.
Japanese two-wheeler major Honda today unveiled 10 new models at the 13th Edition of the Auto Expo. From a brand new 110 cc Navi, a novel choose-your-bike concept, to a giant on/off roader CRF1000L Africa Twin were all shown at the event. The company also relaunched its 150 cc motorcycle CB Unicorn on popular demand.
Iconic sports utility vehicle (SUV) manufacturer Jeep today unveiled three models at the Auto Expo making a comeback to the Indian market.
Wrangler and Cherokee were unveiled today. The Wrangler will be available in 2.4 litre petrol and 3.8 litre diesel engines.
The Cherokee is powered by 3.0 litre diesel and 3.6 litre petrol engines. It will be available in two variants.
Another model Cherokee SRT powered by a 6.4 litre V8 petrol engine was also showcased.
Tata Motors-owned JLR today launched the all-new Jaguar XE sports saloon priced at Rs 39.9 lakh and Rs 46.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The new Jaguar XE sports saloon will be assembled in India as part of the company’s move to increase localisation.
Mercedes-Benz, India’s biggest luxury car manufacturer, today unveiled three new products at the Auto Expo.
The company unveiled the GLC sports utility vehicle, S-Class cabriolet and the Maybach S 600 Guard today.
“The GLC and the S-Class cabriolet are two of the most successful global products without a predecessor in India and we will be introducing them later this year” said Roland Folger, managing director and CEO, Mercedes -Benz India.
Italian two-wheeler maker Piaggio, manufacturer of Vespa scooters, today forayed into India’s premium two-wheeler market by unveiling sports scooter-bike Aprilia SR 150.
The model, which will be launched in August, is a blend of motorbikes and scooter and sports a 150cc engine.
Japanese commercial vehicle maker Isuzu today unveiled adventure utility vehicle D-MAX V-Cross at the Auto Expo here, which would be manufactured from April at its Sri City plant in Andhra Pradesh.
The company said it will soon make India a global hub for vehicle parts and components.
World’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp today unveiled its first in-house developed motorcycle, Splendor iSmart 110, at the 13th Auto Expo here.
The firm also unveiled three other vehicles — premium segment sports bike Xtreme 200 S, design concept bike XF3R and an electric scooter concept Duet-E.
Suzuki Motorcycle India today unveiled a new version of its popular scooter ‘Access 125’ and upgraded ‘Gixxer’ motorcycle series.
Yamaha today unveiled its brand new scooter Cygnus Ray ZR at the 13th Edition of Auto Expo.
Sporting a 113-cc engine and front disk brakes, the two-wheeler is being targeted as a men’s scooter and is the latest addition to its products line-up in India.
