The festival has been the winner of the National Tourism award by Union Ministry of Tourism.

“The arid land of Kutch blossoms into a magical world during the Rann Utsav. The specially set up tents give an unusual experience of staying in the wilderness while enjoying the cozy comforts of a star hotel,” he said.

“It is a unique experience. Tourists can explore, embroidery and handicrafts villages in the vicinity and other interesting sightseeing places,” he added.

The international kite festival is scheduled on January 14, 2016 on festival ‘Makar Sankranti’.

“It is one of the most colourful events in Gujarat. The sky around cities like Ahmedabad is filled with colourful kites all around. Around 100 international kitists from more than 24 countries, spanning all continents are this year taking part in the event,” Patel said.
