Jayalalithaa requests Centre to sanction additional Rs. 2000 cr

New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Sunday seek a grant of Rs 2000 crore from the the Centre to help residents in Chennai and the state with relief and rehabilitation in the aftermath of the recent floods.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley visited flood-battered Chennai today to review the damage suffered by the industrial sector.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also visited Chennai in the beginning of this month for an aerial survey of the damage. Prime Minister Modi had announced Rs 1,000 crore more aid to Tamil Nadu during his visit. He said that the declared amount is over and above the Rs 940 crores which was released earlier.
