Can’t blame govt if a dog is stoned: VK Singh’s shocker on Dalit killings

Date:

MoS External Affairs General (Retd.) VK Singh has stirred fresh controversy with his remarks over the Dalit killings in Ballabhgarh. He had reportedly said that it had become customary for the Centre to be blamed for everything negative that happens in the country.

“This incident has nothing to with the Central government. This is the failure of state government. If someone throws stones at a dog, the government is not responsible,” Singh said.

Singh has drawn flak from across the nation for his statement and the Congress has demanded his resignation. A case has also been slapped against him under Prevention of Atrocities on Scheduled Caste Act Section 3 and 4.

After the outrage Singh went onto damage control mode and clarified his statements later saying, “the agenda of India is bigger than any single neighbourhood or individual and that no one must be allowed to exploit our diversity by blowing up localized issues out of proportion.”

Reacting to Singh’s statement Congress leader Anand Sharma said that his comments are shocking and condemnable. Even if he apologises, it will not be acceptable.

Meanwhile Arvind Kejriwal has also slammed Singh over his remark:

Two children of a Dalit family were burnt alive and their parents suffered injuries allegedly after their house was set on fire while they were sleeping at Sunped village on the outskirts of Delhi.

Seven people have been arrested in connection with the case so far and three policemen have also been suspended for dereliction of duty.
