On the occasion of World Car-Free Day, September 22, the Millennium city will observe car free day from 7 am to 7 pm to encourage people to use public transport.

The campaign which will be observed every Tuesday will save an average of 2.6 kg of greenhouse gas emissions per person per day.

What is car free day?

Car-free day is an initiative to promote sustainable modes of transport like walking, bicycles, rickshaws, buses, metro and dissuade the use of personal transport

Which areas in Gurgaon will observe Car free day?

Following areas have been identified for car free days

Huda City Center to Subhash Chowk
Sikanderpur to Golf Course Road (Genpact Crossing)
DLF Cyber City (entire loop)
Electronic City in Udyog Vihar-IV

Will cars be allowed to run on the roads mentioned in the above mentioned point?

Yes, cars will be allowed to run on the roads. However, no car will be allowed parking on these roads from 7am to 7pm. It is advisable not to bring your car.

What happens if I get my car?

Should you still choose to bring your car, you can either park in your company’s basement parking or authorized parking area created especially for car free day. Shuttles will ply from these parking lots to various locations with in Gurgaon. It is advisable to leave your car and use public transport.

PS: Leisure Valley Grounds, sector 29, will act as parking zone for companies around Huda City Center and Cyber city. The parkings will be barricaded and managed with the help of traffic police.

Will vehicles be towed away if parked incorrectly?

Yes. Vehicles will be fined and taken to one of the authorized parking slots specially created for car free day.

How will I reach my destination on Car free day?

Various arrangements have been made to make your travel hassle free

Feeder bus services from major metro stations like Huda city center, Sikanderpur, IndusInd Rapid Metro. A minimum fare of Rs 10 will be charged for these feeder rides

Auto rickshaws and cycle rickshaws will ply as usual.

Bicycles will be available at Huda City Center and Sikanderpur Metro station. Docking stations have been created.

Shuttles from Leisure Valley Grounds to Subhash Chowk

Increased frequency of Rapid metro will reduce travel time. Use Metro!

Is there a time table for shuttle bus service?

Shuttle timings:

7.30 am till 11.30 am

3.30 pm till 8.30 pm

Frequency every 10 minutes.
