PMs jungle barb at Lalu

Date:

Muzaffarpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched his party’s campaign for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, with a fierce rally at Muzaffarpur on Saturday.

Accusing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of breaking away from the NDA alliance for ‘personal gains’, Modi on Saturday said the former’s party RJD stands for ‘Roz Jungle-raj ka Darr’.

“RJD means ‘Roz Jungle-raj ka Darr’. Some leaders of Bihar, who used to make fun of tweeting, are now doing it themselves. I think Nitish ji was impatient that I did not come to Bihar for 14 months. We are not the ones who run away from their responsibility but fulfill our promises,” said the Prime Minister while addressing a rally in Patna.

“The jungle raj in Bihar is still prevalent. If you were angry with me, you could have admonished me; instead you were so miffed that you forsook development of Bihar. You have seen different models of governance; give the NDA a chance to serve you,” he said.

Modi said that the coming elections are about freedom from ‘Rozana Jungle Raj ka Darr’.

“People who say won’t let Modi ji come to Bihar, we don’t need Modi ji’ etc can they work well with Centre? Maximum ministers, the important portfolios in this Government are from Bihar. Leaders from Bihar are running the entire Nation. There is no discussion on development, law and order etc but on snakes and poison. These two should sit and decide who is what. Bihar has the potential to change the whole nation,” he added.

Addressing an election rally in Muzaffarpur district, Modi made every attempt to woo the people and said that package for the state will be more than Rs 50,000 crore. “I can’t speak much on the package as Parliament session is underway. I will announce the package after the session.”

Modi also took a dig at Nitish Kumar for breaking the 17-year-old alliance before the Lok Sabha elections. “There was a time when Nitish asked me not to come to Bihar, but time has changed now. The previous PM didn’t come, only did an aerial survey but my visit now is troubling the Chief Minister. If I was so bad you could have slapped me, strangled me but why did you strangle the development of an entire state, is this democracy?” asked Modi.

The Prime Minister further said he had come to promise 24 hours electricity to the people of Bihar.

“When I went to Bhutan I signed an agreement for a Hydro electric plant, Bihar will benefit the most from this plant. I have come to promise you 24 hours electricity in Bihar. When there will no electricity then how will you charge mobiles, how will you watch TV serials like ‘kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi’?” he asked.

With just months away for the elections to the crucial state, no party is leaving any stone unturned and have channelised their energies to form the next government in the state. Modi appealed to the people to elect NDA government with a two third majority. “When the new government comes you’ll climb greater heights,” said Modi.
