Google commemorates Iranian New Year

Date:

Google is celebrating the Iranian New Year with its latest colorful doodle, marking the first day of spring or Equinox.

Originated in Persia, Nowruz or Navroz remains a holy day for Zoroastrians and is celebrated in many parts of the world.

The latest doodle is full of bright flowers and bees, symbolising the onset of Spring. In the Indian subcontinent, the festival is celebrated by Parsis, Kashmiris, and Shia Muslims.

To commemorate the occasion, houses are cleaned and painted afresh well in advance and adorned with auspicious symbols and special thanksgiving prayers are held as part of the religious ceremonies followed by wishing each other ‘Sal Mubarak.’
