LinkedIn to pay $1 to premium customers

Date:

As part of a class-action lawsuit settlement, LinkedIn has agreed to compensate $1.25 million to approximately 800,000 users who paid for its premium service between March, 15, 2006 and June, 7, 2012.

After legal fees, the amount comes to about $1 per user.

In June of 2012, hackers exploited the allegedly weak security practices at LinkedIn and posted 6.5 million passwords to a Russian site.

LinkedIn said it agreed to settle the suit “to avoid the distraction and expense of ongoing litigation.” Consumers have until May 2 to submit a claim.
