New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday wished the Indian cricket team the very best for the cricket World Cup which begins in Australia and New Zealand from Saturday.

Modi took to micro-blogging site Twitter to share his sentiments. He posted 15 tweets for the 15-member Indian squad, who will open their World Cup title defence against arch-rivals Pakistan on February 15.

“As the 2015 Cricket World Cup begins, my best wishes to the Indian Cricket Team. Khelo Dil Se, World Cup Laao Phir Se.”

“My best wishes to captain cool @msdhoni. Play hard, lead well & make India proud. Knowing you, I am sure you will,” the PM said in his first two tweets.

Wishing the very best to star batsman Virat Kohli, Modi wrote, “I wish our flamboyant vice captain @imVkohli the very best for the upcoming campaign. The entire nation has a lot of hopes on him.

“Best wishes @SDhawan25! Give India a wonderful start every time you step on the pitch. Score many many runs, we are all there to cheer you.

The only batsman to score 2 double centuries in ODIs, @ImRo45‘s talent has millions of fans. Make us proud once again!,” the PM tweeted wishing luck to openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma.
