Adelaide: David Warner and Glenn Maxwell sent a warning to Australia’s World Cup rivals by smashing hundreds against India in their warm-up match in Adelaide on Sunday.
Maxwell notched his first ever century for Australia, in a match that isn’t an official, hitting 10 fours and five sixes to reach the milestone off just 53 deliveries.
He ended up hitting 88 runs from his last 27 balls before retiring on 122.
Australia’s innings came to an end in the 49th over when Pat Cummins was bowled by Mohammad Shami.
Warner reached his hundred off just 80 balls, belting 14 fours and two sixes against an Indian bowling attack that just can’t take a trick at the moment.
Stand-in skipper George Bailey picked up some crucial runs but couldn’t stick around for a big score as he was caught at point off the bowling of Shami for 44.
