Mumbai: Filmmaker Karan Johar has made his debut in designing female wear for a clothing brand.
The newly-launched Vero Moda marquee collection has been created keeping in mind the latest trends.
Karan Johar, who has often worked as a costume designer in his films, said, “Through the years, I have used my films as an outlet to showcase my own sense of fashion which is luxurious and grand, yet functional at the same time.â€
“This is my first attempt to recreate my own distinct style by putting together a collection for a women’s fashion brand. The fact that I get to do it for a brand like Vero Moda makes it very exciting for me,†the 42-year-old director said.
This occasion-wear line comprised of stylish separates and ensembles, which are opulent yet functional.
“Karan’s take on fashion is an interesting confluence of styles inspired by high-street trends and haute-couture. The launch of this exclusive collection will add to our fashion repertoire and help us re-define fashion trends,†said Vineet Gautam, Country Head, Vero Moda.
Karan Johar made his stint as a fashion designer with Varun Bahl for men’s collection four years ago.
