Meerut: Pictures of a young woman fighting men to save her husband have gone viral over the internet. The incident occurred in Meerut, where a group of men started thrashing a man.
The victim was moving on a road in a bike when his motorcycle brushed the side of a car. Five young men came out and started beating the man brutally. When nobody came to the rescue of the middle-aged man, his wife, who was riding pillion, started beating the men in defense.
After pictures which were broadcasted and published by media, the local police registered a case to find the assailants. The police on Thursday evening contacted the girl and registered a case under IPC section 354,323, 504.Â
However, one of the accused – Ankit – who surrendered himself before the UP police is a LLB student from Meerut College.
On other side, the photojournalist who clicked pictures of the incident said that there was a cop present at the spot but he did not interfere during the clash.
Earlier, unconfirmed reports said the man who was assaulted was the girl’s father. The girl has become a source of inspiration for women, who in India’s patriarchal society, are considered inferior due to their physical weakness.
