New Delhi: Tata Motors on Tuesday launched its much anticipated sub-compact sedan, Tata Zest, its first new offering in four years in a bid to regain market share and plug losses in its domestic business. The car is a compact sedan built on a new platform and in a departure from previous models, boasts user-friendly features.
The price range of the new car falls between Rs 4.64 lakhs to Rs 6.99 lakhs.
Zest aims to compete with Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent. As compared to company’s earlier cars such as Vista and Manza, Zest looks new with beautiful its design and plush interiors. Zest is a sedan version of the hatchback -Tata Bolt. The car has been designed in Europe and India.
The Zest will offer two engines – the diesel engine is the familiar 1.3-liter Fiat Multijet producing 90 PS (88.7 bhp) and 200 Nm of torque. It will be available with a 5-speed manual or a segment-first 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT), making it the cheapest automatic-diesel car in the country.
The sedan has attractive features like projector headlamps, day-time-running-LEDs, multi-mode engine drive, 5-inch touch screen Harman powered infotainment system, all-turbocharged engines. Zest will come with 6 colour options: platinum silver, sky grey, buzz blue, dune beige, pristine white and venetian red.Â
