Germany’s biggest threat – Thomas Muller – scored the first hat-trick of the FIFA World Cup 2014 tournament in a 4–0 win against Portugal. In 2010 World Cup, Muller was the top goal scorer of the tournament with 5 goals and won the Golden Boot.

Even though he is only 24, Mueller already has 22 goals in 55 caps for Germany.

 

Early Life

Thomas Muller was born on September 13, 1989 in Weilheim, Upper Bavaria, and grew up in the nearby village of Pähl in Germany.

Müller played as a youth for TSV Pähl, and at the age of 10 he made the 50 km journey to join local Bundesliga side Bayern Munich in 2000.

 

Career

Muller made his debut for the reserve team in March 2008. In February 2009, Muller signed his first contract for the senior team, a two-year deal effective from the 2009–10 season. In 2010, he renewed his contract with Bayern Munich through 2013. In 2004, Thomas Muller started his international career with Under-16 team. In August 2009, he was called up to the under-21 team and earned six caps and scored one goal.

In March 2010, Muller made his debut in the senior squad in friendly match against Argentina. After his debut, Muller was named in Germany’s provisional 27-man squad for the 2010 World Cup. He started the first game of Germany’s World Cup campaign and scored his first international goal against Australia. After his exceptional performance, he played all the games in 2010 World Cup and scored five goals in the tournament and won the Golden Boot. On 16 June 2014, in Germany’s opening match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Muller scored the first hat-trick of the tournament in a 4–0 win against Portugal.
