New Delhi: Delhi eGovernance Society (DeGS) has put forward a step to get feedback from people using public transport and making changes according to the needs of the masses. DeGS developed an android-based mobile app in an effort to improve the capital’s transport system.Â
The Society—which works under the information technology department—plans to share the data with the transport department and Delhi Police for better safety measures and crackdown on errant drivers. The feedback for a particular public transport vehicle can be also known by typing the registration number.Â
“Commuters, especially women and senior citizens, face difficulty while using public transport. Many a time auto or taxi drivers refuse to go to the desired destination; they charge excess fare, misbehave with passengers and even leave them midway. Obviously, every incident is not reported to police. Even reported ones are not available to public. This mobile app is a response to the need for a feedback mechanism,” said Santulan Chaubey, Director, DeGS.Â
