Schumi recovering in Switzerland

Date:

Paris: F1 champion Michael Schumacher was admitted on Monday to the University Hospital of Lausanne, in western Switzerland, after waking from a medically induced coma.

He left the French hospital where his treatment has been carried out since the life-threatening skiing accident in the French Alps, December last year, leaving him with a severe head injury.

“He is here, he arrived this morning,” Darcy Christen, spokesman for the University Hospital of Lausanne (CHUV), said.

Christen declined to say what unit Schumacher was being treated in, citing medical secrecy and family privacy.

Earlier, his manager had announced Schumacher was no longer in a coma and had left the French hospital. “Michael has left the CHU Grenoble (hospital) to continue his long phase of rehabilitation. He is not in a coma anymore,” said Sabine Kehm in a statement which gave no details of where he was being transferred to.
