All time high in voter’s turnout in 8th phase of 2014 polls

New Delhi: Even as West Bengal state recorded highest voter turnout of 81 per cent in 8th phase of 2014 polls, Uttar Pradesh saw a hike of 12 percent from last polls with Rahul Gandhi’s citadel Amethi at 54 percent on the day of penultimate phase. Meanwhile, on Wednesday the lowest turnout was recorded from Jammu and Kashmir which saw some incidents of violence. There were attacks reported from Baramulla constituency including attacks on two polling stations and a security forces camp. Voter turnout in Uttarakhand was recorded 62 percent, with Himachal Pradesh at 65 percent while Bihar at 58 percent.
