Hyderabad: BJP has announced that Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party will re-join NDA. BJP’s decision comes despite opposition from local leaders and the partnership could propel BJP closer to the 272 seats it needs to form the next national government.
Naidu announced this tie-up on Sunday, saying, “Whenever I take any decision I take for the welfare of the people. Corruption, inflation have hit the country hard… Congress misrule has taken away all our opportunities and scope for development”.
BJP will contest eight of the 17 parliamentary seats in Telangana and five of the 25 seats in Seemandhra.
Earlier in the week, TDP sources had said that both parties “realise the need to defeat the forces working against BJP and TDPâ€, and that an alliance had become absolute necessary for both.
