Mumbai:Â BEST staff have finally called off their strike and have resumed duties. Mumbaikars can now have a sigh of relief. The strike had lasted for hours, crippling the transport lifeline of Mumbai.Â
The BEST drivers and conductors had gone on strike early Tuesday morning to protest against the implementation of computerized scheduling of duties at the depots.Â
The strike was called off after the management agreed to postpone the implementation of the new computerized schedule to June 1. Sources said the management will now discuss the issue with the unions and workers, and seek feedback before implementing the system. The system will, however, be implemented at the Malad depot from next month.Â
