Aam aadmi’s crorepatis!

New Delhi: It seems there are not many aam aadmis (common man) in Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party. While the party says they entirely depend on the donations to fight the elections, the affidavits filed by its candidates along with their nomination papers reveal that as many as 7 of them are worth more than a crore with V Balakrishnan  leading the pack with Rs190 crore.

The following is the list of some “not so aam aadmi” in AAP’s fold.

V Balakrishnan: Total assets: Rs 190 crore

Former Infosys Board Member and Aam Aadmi Party candidate for Bangalore Central Lok Sabha seat V Balakrishnan has declared his and his family’s assets at about Rs 190 crore.

He has declared assets in his name to be over Rs 154 crore of which about Rs 103 crore is from his equity shares in Infosys and about Rs 5.26 crore in American Depository Receipts of Infosys Limited.

His wife Chithra Balakrishnan owns assets worth about Rs 19.34 crore. Balakrishnan and family own residential properties in Bangalore. His wife also owns a flat in Chennai and has jewellery worth Rs 15,39,720. He drives an Audi and Hyundai i10.

 

Shazia Ilmi: Total assets: Rs 30.32 crore

According to the affidavit filed by Shazia Ilmi, she and her husband own a Jeanneau yacht worth Rs 43 lakh and a Mercedes car valued at Rs 22 lakh.

Besides this, they also have cash deposits of over Rs 5.69 crore and investments of over Rs 7 crore. Ilmi also owns a 1,800-square feet flat in New Delhi’s posh locality Greater Kailash-II, claimed to be valued at Rs 1.75 crore.

Her husband Sajid Siraj Malik owns three flats, including one in Mumbai’s Bandra locality, valued at Rs12.58 crore. He also owns two bighas of land in Mahmedabad, Gujarat, with a value of Rs2 crore, the affidavit said.

 

Arvind Kejriwal: Total assets: Rs 2 crore

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal has declared Rs 2 crore worth of moveable and immovable assets, including those of his wife.

According to an affidavit, the value of the movable and immovable assets of Kejriwal and his wife Sunita Kejriwal is worth Rs 2,10,48,389. Kejriwal has two flats in his name, at Indirapuram, Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) worth Rs 55 lakh and at Shivani in Haryana worth Rs 37 lakh.

He has bank deposit worth Rs 1,62,000 while his wife has a bank deposit of Rs 16,85,000, including jewellery worth Rs. 9 lakh. She owns a house in Gurgaon near Delhi worth Rs 1 crore.

 

Ashutosh: Total assets: Rs 8 crore

Ashutosh declared assets worth around Rs 8 crores, which includes his and his wife’s movable and immovable assets. According to the affidavit, Ashutosh has shown movable assets owned by him and his wife Maneesha Taneja worth approximately Rs 40.5 lakhs.

He owns two vehicles – a Volkswagon and a two wheeler – while his wife has 230 grams of gold worth around Rs 6.4 lakh. Ashutosh and his wife jointly own two apartments in Noida.

He also owns an apartment in Sector 105 in Noida. The total worth of his properties is Rs 7.7 crore.

 

Yogendra Yadav: Total assets: Rs 3 crore

Gurgaon candidate Yogendra Yadav declared his assets to the tune of about Rs 3 crore, which includes farm land, commercial booth and sizable amount of bank deposits and Provident Funds (PF).

While Yadav has movable and immovable assets worth Rs 81.43 lakh and Rs 1.32 crore respectively, his wife has movable assets of Rs 43.43 lakh and immovable assets of Rs 40 lakh. Yadav owns a 2010-make Maruti Ritz car, whose value stands at Rs 5.43 lakh. The couple also have sizable bank deposits and other investments in bonds.

These include Rs 26 lakh in a PF account, over Rs 6.85 lakh in Yadav’s name at a UCO bank branch in Delhi, Rs 2 lakh in HDFC bank branch in Gurgaon, tax free bonds including one valued at Rs 6.56 lakh, one PPF account having Rs 7.5 lakh savings, Rs 9 lakh in post office saving scheme while wife has Rs 5 lakh worth tax free bonds, UTI-ULIP valued at Rs 3.70 lakh and GPF at Rs 6.2 lakh.

Among immovable assets, Yadav has two acres of farm land at Rewari worth Rs. 90 lakh along with a commercial booth at Rewari valued at Rs 41 lakh, while his wife has a 50 per cent share in a 1100 square feet flat in Delhi’s IP Extension, with a value of Rs 40 lakh.

Anita Pratap: Total assets: Rs 20.33 crore

Anita Pratap declared her total assets to the tune of about Rs 20.33 crore. She has moveable assets (including husband’s) worth Rs 11.58 crore

The journalist owns a staggering 11 properties (including one in Norway), which add up to Rs 8.75 crore. She has no car and jewellery worth Rs 4.5 lakh.

 

Gul Panag: Total assets: Rs 5 crore

Gul owns assets worth Rs 5 crore. Panag, daughter of retired Army officer HS Panag, has declared share in farmlands in Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab and share in seven flats in Dwarka (Delhi), Kandaghat (Himachal Pardesh), Silver City (Mohali), Chakkra (Shimla), West Mumbai and Greater Noida worth Rs 2.60 crore.

She owns movable assets worth Rs 2.45 crore. Among this are an Audi Q5 car worth Rs 36 lakh, Scorpio car worth Rs 7.3 lakh and a Toyota Innova car worth Rs 12 lakh.

She holds Rs 41,000 cash in hand and has an annual income of Rs 54 lakh. She also owns gold jewellery worth Rs 12.26 lakh.

Gul has liability in the shape of loans amounting to Rs 21 lakh.
