Dhoni lied to the panel: Salve

Date:

New Delhi: Harish Salve on Thursday claimed that India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is guilty of corrupt conduct because he gave false statements to the Mudgal Committee about Gurunath Meiyappan’s role with the Chennai Super Kings.

Salve is one of the senior lawyers arguing the Justice Mudgal Committee report case before the Supreme Court. “Dhoni is an employee of India Cements and that leads to a conflict of interest,” Salve added. The prosecution has also called for Chennai franchise to be suspended in the light of the allegations against Dhoni.

The defence argument that Meiyappan was not the Team Principal but just a cricket enthusiast was demolished by the Mudgal committee by finding conclusive evidence to state Meiyappan was be integral part of the CSK franchise.
