Dos and donts of Holi

Date:

Holi is a time for fun. Let’s not make it frivolous. Let us stop immoral practices during this Holi.
While playing Holi or watching the festivity, don’t indulge in unwarranted things. Here are the Dos and Don`ts to make the most of Holi .

Dos-

  • You must use synthetic colours, gel-based colours are better than powder colours. Again they are softer on the skin, easy to wash off, and cannot be inhaled like powder colours.
  • Use pichkaari away from other people’s faces, especially their eyes and ears.
  • Keep colours away from the mouth.
  • If the colours enter your eye, wash the eye with plenty of water. Remember not to rub the eye. If you experience any change in vision, pain or excessive redness of the eyes, immediately go to the doctor.
  • Celebrate Holi keeping in mind its purpose of ‘uniting people’ and ‘a victory of truth over evil.’

Don’ts

  • Avoid use of abir as it has flakes of mica.
  • Do not apply colours forcibly. Stop people from doing so and give them the reasons.
  • Do not play Holi with eggs, mud or gutter water. Never turn a blind eye to such unclean ways of celebration.
  • Don’t walk alone on the streets on the Holi day. You’ll be a sure target for miscreants.
