New Delhi: The markets have said it, the media is saying it – but is it mere media hype? According to a pre-poll survey aired by NDTV, NDA is all set to sweep polls bagging 166 seats. Nitish Kumar is going to lose Bihar by getting only five seats. Mamata is consolidating in West Bengal with 32 seats and Jayalalithaa in Tamil Nadu with 27 seats. It is landslide for NDA in both Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. In Delhi, Kejriwal’s presence is total. Needless to talk of Modiland, also called Gujarat.
It may be music to NDA’s ears, but all pre-poll surveys have to be taken with a pinch of salt, deflating the hype. Bihar projection clearly flies in the face of reason: it is unlikely that Nitish Kumar will do that badly. Madhya Pradesh is inflated. In the 12 states under study, NDA looks set to get 166 seats, and UPA only 52 seats.
