Lucknow: If you are a VVIP, you will enjoy even the police custody. After a full day of mellow drama over Roy’s conviction, he was lodged in the government guest house at Kukrail, a famous wildlife picnic spot situated about 15 km from the city. The winter blues didn’t end for Sahara Chief Subrata Roy in a manner he would have dreamt of.
The Sahara chief was taken to the guest house following Chief Judicial Magistrate Anand Kumar Yadav’s direction to the UP police to keep him in custody till 2 pm, March 4.
The order saved the day for Roy as he could have been sent to jail if remanded in judicial custody. The police can now decide whether to keep him at a police facility or let him stay at Sahara City – as Roy wishes – under police vigil.
