New Delhi: The Capital under the President’s Rule, the Delhi Assembly is kept under suspended animation. This means the MLAs will continue to draw salaries, leaving the options open for a new government formation.
Arvind Kejriwal is piqued that his government’s recommendation for an outright dissolution of the assembly is turned down by the Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung.
The possibility of some disgruntled AAP MLAs helping BJP form the next government cannot be totally ruled out. But most political analysts believe BJP would desist any such attempt since they have a major stake in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The most likely scenario is that Delhi Assembly elections will be held along with the Lok Sabha elections in April/May. Â
President’s Rule will come into effect after promulgation of a notification by President Pranab Mukherjee.
