New Delhi: The regional parties are planning something big. Nitish Kumar, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mamata Banerjee and Deve Gowda are thrashing out the Third Front, which will come into effect by month-end.
“Who will be the leader of the Front will be decided later. I don’t want to be PM. It is important to take on Narendra Modi and the Congress,” Gowda told media. A meeting of the parties has been called next week.
Nitish Kumar is upset that Congress scrapped its plans of forming an alliance with him. He had walked out of a 17-year-long alliance with BJP after the elevation of Narendra Modi as prime ministerial candidate.
Mulayam exudes confidence of stitching up a Third Front. “We have won over Lucknow. It’s Delhi’s turn now,” he said.
Of late, Anna Hazare has been all praise for Mamata Banerjee and her simplicity. On Friday he once again pressed on the fact that she being a Chief Minister dresses plainly and wears slippers. Mukul Roy’s recent meeting with Anna Hazare has added speculation that Anna will campaign for TMC candidates.
