Karachi: A car bomb attack has left at least eight police officers dead and dozens of people injured in Karachi.
The attack came early in the morning on Thursday. Muhammad Iqbal, a senior official, told AFP, “Apparently an explosive-laden car hit the police bus transporting officials for security duty”.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
The hostile region of Pakistan has recently seen attacks targeting its law enforcers. Just last month a bomb attack at the military headquarters, in Rawalpindi, killed 14 people. While another attack on an army convoy left the 20 soldiers dead.
Military and police, together, have been fighting to keep the militants from overthrowing the government; with the region plagued by sectarian, ethnic and political violence for years.
