Srinivasan’s son-in-law indicted

New Delhi: A day after ICC cheer, BCCI boss’s son-in-law was indicted in the Mudgal committee report on the IPL spot fixing scandal, saying the allegations of betting and passing of information against Gurunath Meiyappan stand proved.

“Conflict of interest on Srinivasan holding post of BCCI chief and ownership of IPL franchisee is a serious issue and needs to be considered by court,” says the report.

Meiyappan, who was the face of Chennai Super Kings, rejected Srinivasan’s contention that he was merely a cricket enthusiast.

The committee has given a ten-point suggestion to SC for making cricket a cleaner game and eliminating evil of spot and match fixing. The report has favoured noted players – Tendulkar, Dravid, Ganguly, Laxman, V Prasad, Kumble and said they should advise youngsters about the malaise of fixing.

The report also suggested that retired armed force personnel and police officers be recruited by BCCI to handle cases of corruption and match fixing. Former Punjab & Haryana Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal on Monday submitted his report on the IPL spot fixing scandal.
