New Delhi: India, in a bid to boost its tourism sector, has extended visa-on-arrival facility to 180 countries except eight including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, China and Iran. The Planning Minister Rajiv Shukla said they hoped to implement it within five to six months, to The Times of India.
The government cleared two initiatives: the Visa on Arrival (VOA) and Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), both of which will be available for a period of 30 days from the date of arrival.
India currently offers visa-on-arrival to tourists from 11 countries like Finland, the Philippines, Singapore and Japan. ETA will allow travellers from abroad to apply for visa from home, receiving a confirmation in five working days.
