COVID-19: Robots to the rescue in Gurugram; to assist in the battle against the virus

Robots in hospitals helping the patients avail of different services are no more just sight in advanced economies like Japan. The Gurugram district administration has deployed one in its civil hospital to enable the treatment of COVID-19.

A hi-tech city needs hi-tech solutions.

As of April 3, it has been reported that over 50 medical practitioners in India had become victims of the deadly virus while in service.

It is exactly this that deploying a robot can prevent.

As per the district administration, the robot will enable the health service providers to avoid the risk of exposure to those patients who have tested positive, it will be deployed in the isolation wards.

Finally, it will be used to deliver medicines and other equipments to the patients and medical personnel.

It is still not known whether it will be an interaction-based system.

Gurugram is not the only district in India to deploy robots in this first against COVID-19.

Earlier in the day, the Chennai city Police deployed ‘robocops’ in one of the containment zones to patrol the streets and relay information regarding various instructions.
