COVID-19: To explore collective response, G-20 nations to hold virtual summit on March 26

In a bid to evolve a collective response towards battling the scourge of coronavirus, G-20 nations, including India, will hold a virtual conference on March 26. The meet will be chaired by Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Bin Abdulaziz.

This conference is essentially aimed at deliberating ways to battle out the fallout caused in terms of loss of human lives, mobility impact, economic damages and social harm caused due the spread of the Coronavirus.

Apart from the member states, International Organisations such as the UN, WHO, FAO, IMF, OECD, IlO and World Bank group shall join the conference. These organisations will play a critical role in ensuring that the damages are mitigated and post crisis rehabilitation is controlled and kick-started.

This virus also continues to affect every region and a coordinated response is the need of the hour. Hence, Vietnam which is the chair of the ASEAN group will be present during the conference. They will be joined by South Africa (Chair of the African Union), United Arab Emirates (Chair of the Gulf Cooperation Council) amongst others.

The G-20 is a group of emerging economies and a collective strategy will be evolved to defeat the designs of this evil virus.
