Dubai JW Marriott fires Indian-origin chef over anti-Islamic tweet

Date:

Dubai chef Atul Kochhar, who is working with the Dubai JW Marriott Marquis has been terminated by the hotel, said in an official statement released by the hotel. JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai released a termination letter after Kochhar made Islamophobic remarks in response to a tweet posted by Priyanka Chopra.

The chef received flak after taking a dig at the actress Priyanka Chopra for her tweet over a “Quantico” episode that portrayed Hindu nationalists as terrorists, the Khaleej Times reported on Tuesday.
“It’s sad to see that you have not respected the sentiments of Hindus who have been terrorised by Islam over 2,000 years. Shame on You (sic),” Kochhar tweeted on Sunday.
He later deleted his tweet and posted an apology on Twitter saying that it was a major error from his side:

After a massive backlash, the hotel chain decided to terminate the chef.
